PEBBLE BEACH, CALIFORNIA — Is Micah Morris taking golf lessons!?
Unrelated to this video, but I played a golf round with a true +2 handicap not too long ago (we were paired randomly), and I mentioned to him a golf coaching location where I was took some lessons that had improved my game significantly. He said: “Oh, I take lessons there too!” I was like: “What!? You!? You are like -4 after 8 holes! You take lessons?” His response astonished me to a level of where I have told this story many times to people who are apprehensive about lessons. He replied: “You know who takes the most lessons? Pros do. Professionals take a lesson as often as every day, sometimes twice a day.”
Hearing that changed my perspective dramatically. Here is this guy, killing this course we are playing, I’m +2 or +3 after 8, he is -4 and holed out from 125 yards on a Par 4 for Eagle, and is putting an actual pro show for me and my buddy, and he takes lessons where I took some lessons before. Only difference, he goes there weekly, and I went there like 3 months before this round.
Micah, I hope you are reading this.
The fact that Micah can hit the driver so long and better than most he plays with, but absolutely crumbles on his second shot, on his short game, on his putting, clearly is screaming: “TAKE SOME GOLF LESSONS!!” (And not from Grant, please!)
Go somewhere where they specialize in teaching, in coaching, and where you can grow into your full potential, Micah! You owe it to yourself.
And yes, Micah, you can hit it a lot better than you do. You have great potential and saying this after bad shots: “I don’t know if I can hit it any better” sets you up for failure, mentally. You CAN and you should and you would if you understood what’s wrong with your swing with your irons, in the fairway, short of the green, etc. — Take playing lessons with very good coaches.
Anyway, fun video to watch because the golf course is so nice and Micah is such a powerful golfer, and I just hope he is working to improve his game. Do not trust yourself and your own practice, Micah…take some lessons, please!
